Chipley is a beautiful Floridian city and serves as the county seat of Washington County. The city sits in the northern portion of the state’s panhandle. Chipley is located about 116 miles east of Pensacola, one of Florida’s many thriving cities, and about 17 miles south of the Alabama state line. Chipley was originally named Orange but in 1882 was renamed after William Dudley Chipley, a railroad tycoon and Florida state senator. Chipley had a population of about 3,600 according to the 2010 United States Census.
